Lucifer Is Dead. Rejoice! Rejoice!

OpenAI: Lucifer the Toad (2023)

Let me share a story about toad-in-a-hole Lucifer, caught in time, where the skies shimmered with an iron dark hue and the earth pulsated in the shadow of night.

Lucifer’s kingdom was vast, but it was a realm of secrets. He had, through his guile, erected barriers that kept the noble animals—like the wise owl, the courageous lion, and the just elephant—from entering his territory. These barriers weren’t just physical; they were woven with deception and illusions, ensuring that those within his realm remained ignorant and those outside could never intervene.

Within his dominion, Lucifer had forbidden the pursuit of wisdom. He spread tales that knowledge was a dangerous weapon, one that could destroy the very fabric of their existence. The animals, fearing their ruler’s wrath (or simply ignorant), never dared to question or seek the truth. They had work! They had bills! They were constantly trying to keep up with the latest trends on animal Consumptiongram, often having to increase their furry belt size! And amidst all this, they were often distracted by the kingdom’s peculiar motto: “Shut up and eat the Big LucMuffin! It’s a 2 for 1 sale!” It was a strange saying, but then again, so was a toad ruling an entire realm.

However, as time passed, Lucifer’s dominion began to show cracks. His lack of virtue made his rule erratic. His absence of wisdom meant that he often acted without foresight. Without temperance, he was prone to extreme actions, and his lack of justice made his subjects restless. But most importantly, his lack of courage to do good meant he feared the very enlightenment he kept from his subjects.

One day, a small field mouse named Alaric, tired of living in the shadows, decided to venture beyond the barriers. He encountered the wise owl, who shared tales of realms where knowledge was celebrated and wisdom was the highest virtue. Inspired, Alaric returned to Lucifer’s kingdom, carrying with him a tiny spark of truth.

Word spread about Alaric’s discoveries, and the animals began to question Lucifer’s edicts. They realized that they had been living in a web of deceit. The barriers Lucifer had erected began to crumble, not from external forces, but from the internal awakening of the animals.

Lucifer, sensing the shift, tried to tighten his grip by sparking conflicts. But without the pillars of virtue, wisdom, temperance, justice, and courage to do good, he was powerless to the newly enlightened. The very foundation of his rule was built on falsehoods, and now, it was collapsing.

In the end, it wasn’t an external enemy that led to Lucifer’s downfall. It was animals waking up to virtue. As his kingdom crumbled around him, so did he, his once free-willed scheme losing its luster, his once mighty form now just a shadow. And the United Animals of Lucifer was never the same.

The barriers slowly began to lift, and the realm was free once more to those with ears to hear. The noble animals from beyond the barriers came forth, and together with the just animals of Lucifer’s former kingdom, they built a new world—a world where wisdom was cherished, and virtues were the pillars on which society stood.

And as for Alaric, he became a beacon of hope, a testament to the power of truth and the importance of seeking knowledge. The tale of Lucifer the Toad became a cautionary story, a reminder of the perils of ruling without virtue and the importance of wisdom, temperance, justice, and courage.
